By road. Direct access from the Murcia–San Javier motorway. Madrid in about four hours, Valencia in about three.
By rail. Murcia del Carmen station connects to Madrid by high-speed AVE in around three hours.

Six things sit within fifteen minutes of the front gate: a city, some 250 km of Mediterranean beaches, a hospital, two international schools, an airport and a protected nature reserve. That combination is the reason this land was chosen.

1. Why our vision starts with longevity

Most resorts sell square metres. We sell time.

Our motto has always been “Live better, live longer”. We offer more time to enjoy healthier, and at some point that stopped being a slogan and became the brief for every decision on this land: where the paths go, how far the gym is from your front door, what grows in the ground, who your neighbours are.

The reason is simple. Europeans are living longer, Spain sits at the very top of the table, and in 2024 the EU region with the highest life expectancy of all was Spanish, at 85.7 years (Eurostat). But living longer is not the same as living well. The gap between how long people live and how long they stay healthy is where almost all of the suffering, and almost all of the cost, sits. Closing that gap is what longevity means to us.

The market has reached the same conclusion. Wellness real estate reached $584 billion in 2024 and is forecast to double to $1.1 trillion by 2029, growing 19.5% a year, almost four times faster than global construction, with Europe among the three fastest-growing regions at 22.4% (Global Wellness Institute).

Altaona is our answer: 3.6 million m² where the climate, the architecture, the food, the sport and the medicine all pull in the same direction, and where you can own a piece of it. Only 9% of the land is developed; a 18-hole golf course and a protected nature area take care of the rest.

2. The three pillars of the resort

Everything at Altaona rests on three pillars.

Residential. Villas and townhouses to own, on plots from 400 to 2,500 m², built with the SISMO system and certified A for energy.

Hospitality. Independent living for active older adults, with wellness and longevity support, organised activity and convenient access to healthcare.

The WOW Experience. 220,000 m² of sport, wellness and longevity, golf, padel, tennis, fitness, spa and the longevity centre, open to owners, members and guests (WOW Longevity Hotel) and (WOW Longevity Centre).

Families take a luxury holiday. Older residents find a safe, sociable community that supports them at every stage of life. Investors get an asset positioned in the fastest-growing segment of real estate. All three share the same paths, the same Parador terrace and the same clubs,  which is the point: company is a health intervention too.

3. Heritage: the 1620 Parador and the Church of the Snows

A 17th-century Parador stands at the centre of the estate. We are restoring it to its original grandeur and turning it into a luxury restaurant with a large terrace, the meeting point of the resort, where historic charm sits alongside modern comfort, and where residents and guests actually run into each other.

Beside it is a church built in 1640 and dedicated to the Virgen de las Nieves, the Virgin of the Snow, after a rare snowfall in this hot, dry valley.

The land has older layers still. The Sultan of Córdoba stationed his army here in the 800s because of the natural thermal baths — which is why the village next door is called Baños. People have been coming to this valley for their health for twelve centuries; we are simply the latest to notice.

4. Sustainability and infrastructure built to last

Only 9% of 3.6 million m² is developed. What we do build, we build to last — and to make the healthy choice the easy one.

  • a replanting programme of more than 15,000 trees and palms
  • an on-site water treatment plant that recycles wastewater for the golf lakes
  • sedum green roofs on many buildings, to lower temperatures and improve insulation
  • underground water-management channels, wide pedestrian paths and strategically placed fire points
  • green zones designed with shade and outdoor training installations, so exercise happens outdoors all year

Wide, safe walking routes are not a landscaping detail. Daily movement is the most reliable longevity intervention there is, and the quickest way to kill it is to make walking unpleasant. Shade, gradient and distance were designed around that.

Our sustainability and BREEAM commitments

5. Two entrances, two histories

The modern entrance is the main arrival, opening onto the residential and senior-living neighbourhoods. Contemporary architecture with quiet references to the estate’s Catholic heritage — a calm, generous welcome rather than a barrier.

The traditional entrance tells the older story. It leads to the WOW Experience and the tourist apartments, and pays tribute to the Arabic legacy of this valley: the Sultan of Córdoba stationed his army here in the 800s because of the natural thermal baths, which is why the village next door is still called Baños — baths.

Two entrances, two eras, one idea: people have always come to this valley to feel better.

6. Safety, security and everyday convenience

The resort is secured 24/7 with a discreet but effective system. Families let children move around on their own; older residents walk at any hour. That freedom is part of the health case, not a separate amenity — people who feel safe go outside more, and going outside is most of the work.

Convenience does the same job. A major hospital is 10–15 minutes away, Región de Murcia International Airport 10 minutes, Murcia city 15, the Mediterranean 15–25, and two international schools — King’s College and El Limonar — about 10 minutes. Nothing about living well here requires a long drive.

7. Homes designed for a long, healthy life

Every home is built with the SISMO construction system and carries an A energy certification — quieter, better insulated, cheaper to run and far more comfortable in August. In this climate that is a health feature as much as a cost one.

  • Villas: plots of 400–2,500 m², one or two floors, private pool and garden. €360,000 – €2,000,000
  • Townhouses: 2 and 3 bedrooms with access to a communal pool, ideal for holiday use or as an investment. From €230,000

Homes are grouped into distinct neighbourhoods — Las Vistas, Oasis, Fairway, Retama, Santolina — each with its own character, outlook and price point. Every one of them is within walking distance of the golf course, the paths and the WOW Experience, which is deliberate: the facilities only work if using them is effortless.

8. Serviced apartments for an active later life

Our serviced apartments are for people who intend to stay independent, not to be looked after.

Residents keep their own home and their own routine, with wellness and longevity support, organised activity and convenient access to healthcare when it is needed. The result is a community rather than a facility: neighbours who play golf, swim, walk, eat well and know each other by name.

That last point matters more than it sounds. Social connection is one of the strongest predictors of healthy ageing there is — and it is the one most retirement products quietly ignore.

9. The WOW Experience: sport, surf and recovery

220,000 m² dedicated to active holidays and to health.

At its heart is the Wave Garden: 24,000 m² of water with a 170-metre surf stretch that works for a first-timer and for an experienced surfer. Around it we are building a beach-inspired quarter with restaurants, beach bars and space for events.

Add 15 padel courts and 10 tennis courts with a tournament stadium, a 1,500 m² fitness centre with dedicated Pilates and yoga studios and quiet spaces for meditation, and a wellness centre with treatment rooms and indoor and outdoor infinity pools looking out at the mountains.

The point is not the list. It is that strength, cardio, mobility, balance and recovery — the five things that decide how you move at eighty — are all within a few minutes of your door, in a climate that lets you do them outdoors most of the year.

10. The Longevity Clinic: 1,200 m² of personalised care

At the centre of the WOW Experience sits a 1,200 m² longevity clinic dedicated to scientifically grounded, personalised programmes.

Care is built on your genetic profile rather than population averages: DNA and genetic analysis inform the nutrition, training, recovery and preventive strategy we recommend. The clinic works alongside the wellness centre, its treatment rooms and its indoor and outdoor infinity pools — so diagnostics, therapy and daily practice happen in one place instead of three different cities.

Whether you are surfing, playing padel, doing yoga or recovering in the spa, the same principle applies: measure, personalise, repeat.

11. The PHMP: your personal longevity programme

The PHMP — Personal Health Maintenance Program is the spine of everything we do.

It starts with data: DNA and genetic analysis, plus an honest picture of how you currently live. From that, our specialists build a plan that belongs to you and to nobody else — what to eat, how to train, how to recover, how to sleep, how to handle stress.

During your stay, our experts walk you through every element of that plan and you practise it in real conditions: in the kitchen, on the golf course, in the water, in the fitness studios, in the treatment rooms. Not a report you take home — a routine you have already lived.

12. How the PHMP continues after you leave

Here is the part most programmes skip.

You go home with the plan on the resort app: nutrition, training, recovery and stress guidance tailored to your goals, instructional video, adjustments and coaching through the year. The week you spent here compounds instead of evaporating on the flight home.

The PHMP gives you the insight, the skills and the tools to make scientifically grounded changes and keep them — which is, in the end, the only version of longevity that works.

For PHMP members the app is the programme: goals for nutrition, training, recovery and stress, with tailored guidance, instructional video and adjustments through the year. It is what turns a good week at a resort into a habit that lasts.

16. Why a longevity resort is also a sound investment

Two demographic facts sit underneath this project. Europe is ageing, and people increasingly refuse to age passively. Altaona is built where those two lines cross.

That gives the resort an unusual profile as an asset: demand from families on holiday, from active over-60s who want independence with support, and from an international buyer market that has been moving toward the Costa Cálida for its value against the Costa del Sol and Costa Blanca.

The numbers back it. Wellness real estate grew 19.5% a year between 2019 and 2024 to $584 billion, and is forecast to reach $1.1 trillion by 2029, with Europe among the fastest-growing regions (Global Wellness Institute). A property here is exposed to that, not just to Spanish coastal tourism.

17. Our promise: more time to enjoy

Traditional resorts sell houses. We sell the thing the house is for.

Our motto — “we offer more time to enjoy” — is the shortest honest summary of the whole project. More time, in both senses: more years, and more of them spent doing what you actually want to do.

That is why the golf course, the surf lagoon, the clinic, the Parador, the paths and the serviced apartments are not separate products. They are one system, aimed at one outcome, on one piece of land in Murcia.

Come and see it. We will show you the land, the clinic plans and the homes, and explain exactly how the longevity programme works — without any obligation to buy anything.

Frequently asked questions about our longevity resort in Murcia

Short, direct answers to the questions we are asked most often about Altaona Sports & Wellness Resort, its location in Murcia and how the longevity programme works.

A longevity resort is a residential and hospitality destination designed around healthspan – the number of years you stay healthy – rather than around leisure alone. It combines medical measurement, personalised programmes, daily physical activity, Mediterranean nutrition and community in a permanent environment you can live in or own. Altaona Sports & Wellness Resort in Murcia, Spain is built on that model.

In Banos y Mendigo, Murcia, in the Region de Murcia on Spain’s Costa Calida. The address is Avenida del Mundo 1D, 30155 Murcia. It is about 15 minutes from Murcia city, 10 minutes from Region de Murcia International Airport (Corvera, RMU) and 15-25 minutes from the Mediterranean coast.

Region de Murcia International Airport (RMU, Corvera) is a 10-minute drive. Alicante-Elche Airport (ALC) is about 50 minutes. The nearest Mediterranean beaches are 15-25 minutes away, on a coastline with roughly 250 km of beaches.

The PHMP is Altaona’s personalised longevity programme. It builds a health plan from your DNA, genetics and current lifestyle, covering nutrition, exercise, recovery and stress, and continues year-round through the resort app with coaching, guidance and instructional video.

Villas range from 360,000 to 2 million euros on plots of 400-2,500 m2. Townhouses with access to a communal pool start at 230,000 euros. All homes use the SISMO construction system and carry an A energy certification.

Yes. One of the resort’s three pillars is serviced apartments for active older adults: independent living with wellness and longevity support, organised activity, 24/7 security and convenient access to healthcare, inside a community rather than a facility.

A 27-hole golf course, a 24,000 m2 Wave Garden with a 170-metre surf stretch, 15 padel courts, 10 tennis courts with a tournament stadium, a 1,500 m2 fitness centre with Pilates and yoga studios, and a wellness centre with treatment rooms and indoor and outdoor infinity pools.

Murcia has around 2,955 hours of sunshine a year, an average annual temperature of about 19 C and roughly 290 mm of rain. It is one of the mildest, driest climates in Europe, which is the practical reason outdoor training, golf and walking work here all year round.

Yes. A major hospital is 10-15 minutes away and Spain’s healthcare system is consistently ranked among the best in the world. Two international schools, King’s College and El Limonar, are about 10 minutes from the resort.
